A Tale of Two Sisters

A horrifying movie about a girls delusions and depression following a huge loss in her life.

My sister told me about this horror movie and following my curiosity I watched it. It follows the normal procedure of horror movie making in Asia, having a slow start and building up more and more as the movie progresses. This is very different from American horror movies, where it is a lot more common to have quick shocks throughout. I know some people get bored with this kind of storyline, but personally I like it. It makes the final scenes so much better and you are always on the edge of your seat waiting for something scary to happen.

The story is very good and once you understand the whole plot you are left with an uneasy feeling. However it took me 2 views to fully get it. This might be because I was not concentrated enough the first time or because I am not used to watching Asian horror movies. Whatever the reason I think it's a positive thing. It means it is a movie you can watch several times without being bored.

The acting is as usual for these kind of movies very good. Especially the stepmother character is fantastically acted. Good actors is essential in horror movies and I was happy to see this did not let down. The movie is also very artistically shot with some beautiful images and very creepy angels. The only negative thing is the clear inspiration it has from Ringu. However this is a minor detail. It's a great horror movie that is pretty scary and has a great story. 8/10
