Apollo 13

The true story about the Apollo 13 mission that experienced problems on the way to the moon and almost turned into a disaster.

I have always been interested in the universe and especially our own solar system. I am fascinated by the Apollo missions and the race to put people on the moon. This is the second time I watch Apollo 13 and both times I have enjoyed it tremendously. It is one of those movies that is based on a true story and actually follows it down to the last detail.

I was not born when the events took place, so I am very grateful that a movie that captures the real story was made. And what a story it is. Pretty much everything that can go wrong does and it is thanks to the astronauts and the crew on the ground that they return safely back to earth. It can seem impossible or made up, but everything happened.

Tom Hanks has an amazing ability to pick great movies and he is as good as ever in this one. The rest of the cast is also very solid. Without Ron Howard's eye for detail, authenticity and ability to direct great movies this could have turned into a huge waste of time. In stead it is a movie everyone interested in our previous space program should watch. It is a movie that shows how dangerous traveling in space can be, but also that we do not give up easily and the determination to get the astronauts back alive. A piece of history that should not go by unseen. 9/10
