Untraceable

A murderer kills his victims while streaming it live on the internet. The victims die faster as more people log into the website to watch. The job goes to the FBI to stop the killer before more people are killed.

The concept of the movie is very fresh and different from what I have seen before. It is very relevant to our way of living and the technology we use on a daily basis. This could have turned into a brilliant movie if the people behind it did not screw up the other parts of the movie.

The plot is well written and uses modern technology accurately. Or so it might seem for anyone that are not computer geeks. If you start looking at the details on how the killer broadcasts his webcam and hosts the site, it is not possible in reality. This however is not why the movie gets an average score from me. For most of the viewers the technical details will seem centered around reality.

What pulls the score down is the parts that they really should have been able to do without mistakes. There are a few major plot holes and unlogical choices made by the characters that just end up being silly. One example is when the FBI agent forgets to check the back seat before getting into her car, right before she is kidnapped. No real FBI agent is that careless or stupid. It is these small things that could so easily have been fixed that makes this just another average cop/crime thriller. 6/10
