Arachnophobia

A new deadly spider hitches a ride in a casket from South America to the US and ends up in a small town. There is breeds with a local spider and slowly the killing begins.

I remember watching Arachnophobia when I was a kid and being scared of spiders for days afterwards. It was nice to finally re-watch it and see if my old memories where still valid. If you have Arachnophobia I do not recommend watching this, especially not alone. The name of the movie explains the content perfectly and there is a massive amount of spiders involved.

Arachnophobia is mainly a sci-fi horror and a scary one at that. Even after all these years there where several scenes were I nearly jumped. Frank Marshall and his crew does some solid camera work. Showing as little as possible in the frame and leaving the imagination to do the rest. It is technically brilliant and places this movie up there among the scarier I have watched.

Jeff Daniels does a great job in the lead as Dr. Ross Jennings. John Goodman has the comedy role as Delbert McClintock the insect extinguisher and gives us the needed relaxing between thrilling scenes. Arachnophobia is a movie that will stay with you for some time after you are finished watching. Don't be surprised if you find yourself extra aware of spiders the next few days. 8/10
