Step Up
After breaking into an art school a trouble maker named Tyler Gage is sentenced to 200 hours of community service at the same school. His skills at street dancing soon come in handy when he meets the beautiful Nora Clark who is a student there.
Step Up is the second dance movie I have watched recently. In this movie they mix street dance with ballet which looks very cool. More than that it is a story about how people from the ghetto also have dreams and should pursue them.
The general story has been told before, so what we get here is a new mix of things. And for the most part it works. Our main character Tyler Gage experiences the standard ups and downs, but ultimately fulfils his dreams. You know how it is going to end from the beginning, so the important part is the stuff in between.
The dancing parts of the movie are all great and the last dance when they are performing is well choreographed and a joy to watch. Another thing I liked was the acting. The chemistry between Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan was very good. Without these elements this would have been just another average teenage flick.
This is not a masterpiece but it will keep you entertained. If you like dancing and dance movies Step Up should be on the watched list. 7/10
