A woman from New York inherits an old hotel. What she does not know is that it is placed over one of the seven gateways to hell.
Known as "E tu vivrai nel terrore - L'aldilĂ " or The Beyond in English. A college at work told me about this movie and I promised to watch it. He told me it was really good and a great gore fest so my expectations where high. Sadly it did not live up to the expectations at all.
The only part of this movie that was at least half decent was the story. And that's if you look at it from an horror perspective. It includes most of what you expect to find in a horror/gore flick, including zombies, mystical symbols and creepy looking eyes. The story has a decent progression as well.
That is where the fun stops. The acting is downright horrible. The actors have no clue how to look afraid and their reactions made no sense. What really let me down was the effects. The gore looked so fake it was sad to watch. It was so easy to see that they used dolls when they were inflicting pain to the characters. One detail that was really sloppy was towards the end when the doctor is firing his gun. He runs out of bullets, yet in the next scene he keeps shooting. He also learns that to kill the zombies he has to shoot them in the head, yet in the next several scenes he keeps shooting them in the chest. These mistakes are easy to fix and could easily make this movie a lot better.
From my personal experience I do not encourage anyone to watch this. There are tons and tons of better horror/gore flicks out there that you could watch instead. 3/10
