A political thriller about the oil industry and how far people, companies and governments are willing to go in order to control it.
Syriana is an interesting movie. There is no main storyline, instead we follow the lives of a group of very different people. However what they all have in common is that they are tied to the oil industry in one way or another. There are no good guys or bad guys ether, everyone is a little of both. This makes the movie very objective and non biased. What we get is a realistic view of how the industry works on different levels.
What I liked about this movie is how they managed to clip all these stories together into a great political thriller. I learned a great deal about the middle east and how everyone is trying to get at the oil. I do not know how authentic the movie is, but I believe that it is more realistic than many people want to admit.
The acting is also great, George Clooney and Matt Damon both slip into their roles effortlessly and the rest of the cast are also good. The movie has some great shots of the middle east landscape and cities as well. Overall is was an interesting watch. I do not run into these kind of movies that often, but I am thankful the times I do. 7/10
